Inlay-Onlay

Inlay-Onlay

All-on-4 implant treatment is an advanced prosthesis-supported implant technique that can be applied to patients with a jaw structure that will be completely toothless or soon to be toothless using implants. This implant technique is a highly advanced form of traditional implants. All-on-4 implant method is an ideal method for patients with bone loss in the posterior tooth areas to use fixed teeth. In this technique, instead of making an implant instead of each missing tooth, 4 implants are placed on a single jaw. The areas with missing bone level are bypassed and the implants are placed at an angle, so there is no need to perform procedures such as sinus elevation and bone augmentation. It is planned by making the necessary measurements with the help of computerised tomography and safely applied to the patient. Afterwards, the prosthesis is fixed on these implants. Since the number of sessions required for treatment is small, it is suitable for patients with limited time. It is also more comfortable for patients travelling abroad and out of town.

As with traditional fillings, firstly, the area around the tooth is numbed and the areas where decay occurs in the tooth are cleaned. Then, a mould of the tooth is taken using digital modelling or a paste-like material and sent to the dental laboratory. After the tooth is modelled, an Inlay or Onlay is obtained by using ceramic or resin. A temporary filling is applied until the permanent material comes from the laboratory.

Inlay and onlay fillings differ in terms of the area where they are applied and the size of the caries. The main difference can be summarised as follows: Inlay filling is applied for tooth tissue loss that does not involve the tops of the tooth. It may be possible to cover the decay with the traditional filling method, but it is preferred because of its advantages. Inlay is specially produced according to the structure of the tooth and the size of the decay and placed inside the tooth. Onlay filling is a bit more similar to a crown and is used for caries on the upper part of the tooth. They are usually large fillings. Again, like inlay fillings, onlay fillings are specially produced according to the structure of the tooth and the size of the decay.

It can be finished in one session. If two sessions are required, this temporary filling is removed at the second appointment and permanent Inlay or Onlay is placed.

Inlay-onlay fillings are specially produced in the laboratory environment and are compatible with your teeth. The possibility of discolouration is very low. During the application, only the damaged part of the tooth is treated, the intact tooth tissue is protected. Porcelain fillings that fully adapt to your teeth minimise the possibility of food escaping, as a result, caries risks are eliminated. Areas that are difficult to reach in ordinary fillings are easily reached in inlay-onlay porcelain filling, and effective results are obtained in damaged areas.

The lifespan of an inlay or onlay filling depends on the condition of the tooth, chewing forces, how much attention the patient pays to oral hygiene and regular dentist controls. Inlay-onlay ceramic, porcelain fillings are durable, maintain their strong structure for many years and can be used.
